Benedictine
This famous Norman liquor, decorated with the inscription "DOM" (Deo Optimo Maximo – "to God, most good, most great"), is made from 27 secret herbs and spices in four stages. After maceration and distillation, the resulting infusions are first kept separately, then mixed and aged for 11 months in oak barrels. Afterwards, they are mixed with water, brandy, honey and burnt sugar in the final stage of the 3 month aging process.
